Should ChatGPT be restricted?

Some argue ChatGPT should be limited to avoid potential harms. Others say restricting an AI system is unethical. What are the pros and cons of limiting public access to ChatGPT?

Restricting something such as ChatGPT is possible but it could cause a lot of issues and would more than likely cause an uproar from those who were on the end of the restrictions. I do feel that rules need to be in place as to when and where AI can be used which is a little different to restrictions.

Limiting access to ChatGPT would cause an uproar, especially with how many people are using ChatGPT to help with ideas when it comes to work.

I agree with this. Restricting who can use ChatGPT would cause more issues than is needed. Having rules in place would be the better option.

No way. It should not be restricted at all. In fact, the adult and bad word filter should be removed completely. It is just a bummer.
Any further limitations will just make it useless to most of us. So far, i am unable to write a piece in the romance or thriller genre. That just pisses me off. It should be regulated but allowed to offer all its capabilities.

ChatGPT is surely violating copyrights of intellectual property, mostly books. However, it is also offering a very easy method for people to find answers quickly. I do not see why CHatGPT should be restricted.

Just like when computers were introduced. People were skeptic. This will just cool down eventually and AI will just be a technology like we have the smartphones and hi-tech computers. But yes, there is need for watching it closely.

Google can show you what is publicly published online, it will not show you anything that is not publicly posted online. For instance, if I publish a book, Google will not be able to read the content of my book. However, it is believed that ChatGPT has been fed with content that is not available publicly. I think this thing should be put in restriction as it is violating intellectual rights.

Unless ChatGPT poses a serious risk to the health or the well-being of someone, I do not believe it should be restricted. Once you start restricting ChatGPT those who still wish to use it will find ways around it, it makes more sense to not restrict it than give people a reason to find workarounds.

Restricting ChatGPT without good reason would cause many issues among those who rely on it now. There are instances where I understand that ChatGPT should not be used but in most cases, this is usually common sense that is needed and not restrictions.

This I could not agree with more. If you restrict something that many are relying on now, they will always find a way around those restrictions.

ChatGpt, in its current form, is already restricted in that you can't ask it to product any information about certain topics. If anyone remembers when ChatGpt just launched, you could ask it to do a whole host of stuff. Over time, they kept put more restrictions on it, and it became less accurate regarding the information you get. If they restricted it any further, it'd be even more useless.

If they had plans to limit what ChatGPT can be used for or can do, what's the essence of its development? It's like censoring ChatGPT which makes a mockery of everything the learning stands for. ChatGPT and other AI programs are being upgraded frequently to give it a unique perspective when generating information. It will keep getting better in the future.

It could be a cause for cheating in certification. Like someone passing an exam and asking chat gpt and then giving the answer and getting certified. It could be either for online or offline certifications. This could be a reason for restriction.

Most people that are calling for the restrictions of large language models are people working in the writing and creative sector. They believe AI would take away their jobs from them. They have a basis though but they could redirect that energy to seeing how they can use AI to work for them.
