Every technology comes with it's own set of pros and cons. And so is the case with AI. We see a surge in cybercrimes on a regular basis as the world gets more and more digital.
I read an article recently where it was stated that as AI gets more and more pervasive, the dark side of AI can manifest in sophisticated cyber threats and malicious activities. One can capitalise on the capabilities of AI in crafting new attack vectors that can exploit vulnerability of people and data in novel ways. One example quoted in the context was concerns coming from Deep Fakes. As the deep fakes would get more sophisticated and advanced, we will witness a surge in deep fake related cyber crimes and attacks.
Feel free to share your thoughts on how AI can lead to more sophisticated and advanced cyber threats and crimes.

This is the very reality of what we are facing today in our time. AI programs are great designs that are capable of doing anything which is why criminals who have access to sophisticated AI program use it to commit cyber security crimes and breaches. Cyber crimes keeps increasing everyday which AI paves way for such to keep happening.

There are so many wrongs AI programs can do when they are not checked. For those who are willing to use AI programs to commit crimes, they can use it for Deepfakes, driverless vehicles as a weapon, tailored phishing, hacks, large-scale blackmail and using AI-authored fake news which can cause serious panic. These automated driverless vehicles as a weapons can be used for assassination.

We keep getting more and more news about the misuse of it. Recently a star cricket celebrity in India, a former cricketer who has a huge fan following, came up on his social media account to complaint about the deep fake video that has shown him endorsing a particular online earning scheme. It seems that the scam scheme used his popularity and celebrity status to lure and dupe so many people. More and more people are gullible to fall for such traps. It's a big concern at present and the dangers might be bigger in future with more technological advancements coming easy in hand of criminals

Do you know why some sections of people don't like Chat GPT and would talk it down beyond it's limitations? That's because Chat GPT won't answer offensive or criminal queries. Some people are asking Chat GPT to tell them how to build nuclear weapons while others are asking the model tips to carry out a terrorist attack. So many people are ready to pounce if they see a loop to use AI negatively.

I guess the way to respond is not to care. I mean, even if someone's grandma is disgraced online, who cares? It's only as insulting as the reaction.

It was not about the disgrace this time. I think that you are mistaking it to be the one where deep fake photos of his daughter was used to show her in relationship with a cricketer during World Cup. Well, even that is wrong. But here it is using his video to endorse something that he is not even aware of. Moreover, it was a scam to dupe people of their money. So, it was not just maligning his personal image, but his video was used for a crime. He had to raise his voice and alarm people.

Seriously deep fakes is a very big problem that's associated with AI programs. This is a technological tool that enables a serious criminal act that's capable of landing an innocent person in prison if he or she can't prove they where not the one's in the deep fake.
