AI often reinforces biases in data, perpetuating societal inequalities. Access to AI is unequal, therefore widening the disparities. To foster equity:

  1. Implement Ethical Guidelines: Ensure fairness and transparency in AI.
  2. Promote Diversity: Include varied perspectives in AI development.
  3. Improve Access: Offer education and training to marginalized groups.
  4. Engage Communities: Involve affected groups in AI decision-making.
  5. Establish Regulations: Hold developers accountable for social impacts.

These steps can mitigate AI's negative effects, fostering a fairer, more inclusive society.

I completely agree with your points. Ethical guidelines and diversity in AI development are crucial for mitigating biases. Engaging affected communities is also essential for understanding the real-world impacts.

Unfortunately, there's no AI which is capable of challenge existing power structures and inequalities within society on their own if they are not coded to challenge existing power structures and inequalities within society. It's all about what the AI have been designed to do that it's going to focus on.

Most AI models are often developed by very large tech companies. This in itself could make them to feed the AI biased data that would favour the continuous thriving of these companies rather than objectivity.
