OpenAI’s Board Changes Its Mind: Sam Altman Fired on Friday, Back as CEO on Monday

This guy Sam is the GOAT!
OpenAI fired CEO Sam Altman on Friday, but rehired him on Monday. The board had some disputes with Altman over his AI vision and transparency. But they realized that Altman is a valuable leader for OpenAI and apologized to him. Will he accept the apology?

What do you think of this? Can't wait to see what pans out today

Yeah sure. I heard about this late last night. Today, I saw an article on CNN that the guy will be reinstated on Monday, and the board that fired him is "fired"! Sounds ridiculous and uncalled for a company of that size. But who cares? Provided the tools are working for me.

It's a movie playing out in real time. I'm waiting for that Netflix documentary. 😂
True. It's a sick turn of events. That board should not be left to manage such a colossal investment. This thing is bigger than their ego and emotions.

The drama now is far from absurd. OpenAI's recent moves, like the new board and the solid partnership with Microsoft, show they're playing the game strategically. Microsoft's commitment is a loyalty boost for sure. How do you think this collaboration will shape the future of AI?

This is what happens when a board rushes to make a hastey decision. They are very lucky this didn't come back to bite them back big in the butt. I never understood the reason why they had to fire him in the beginning.

They deserved to be fired for firing who wasn't supposed to be fired to begin with. Just like you stated, the most important thing is for the tools to be working and comprised irrespective of those that are sacked or recalled.

It was a hell of a week! Every 5 minutes, something else came out. This whole Openai saga is probably the most interesting thing to happen in the tech industry in YEARS. I'm telling you right now, the amount of drama and suspense from that whole debacle was far better than any Days Of Our Lives episode I've ever seen :ROFLMAO:

A smart business entity doesn't run the business with bias, ego or emotions. These things would make the person make mistakes that's going to cost them so much in the business. This is what happened with the board here. They let their emotions get the best of them.

The reality now is that the board are paying for their mistakes and it's a very big lesson for other AI companies out there to know exactly how they go about their business and make sure that everything works accordingly without any group of people being too greedy.

What happened with them is cause and effect. There was no way they are not going to face the consequences of their actions. Unfortunately, it was big enough to cost them their jobs. If they the opportunity to undo everything from the start, they would have done it.

I'm very happy with how everything ended for everyone that's involved with this saga. The new board replacing the one that fired Altman will be led by former Salesforce co-CEO Bret Taylor. He was also the one who was the chairman of Twitter's board before Elon Musk took over ownership of the social media platform.
