How can we effectively identify and address biases inherent in training data to prevent them from perpetuating in AI algorithms, and what strategies should be utilized to ensure fairness and equity in AI systems?

My suggestion is to collect diverse datasets that represent different demographics and perspectives. Ensure a diverse group of annotators does the annotations to minimize subjective biases.

Interesting suggestion! Ensuring diversity in datasets and annotators are essential to building more inclusive AI systems. How do you propose handling the logistical aspects of gathering diverse datasets and recruiting a diverse group of annotators?

It's only how the AI programs have been coded to work that it's going to work. If any kind of biases are inherent in coding and training data of the AI programs, that's when it's end result will definitely have its own bias. AI programs can't give what they weren't taught.

You're absolutely correct but Ai in the near future will have some level of sentience, so it may develop its own biases based on things it deems harmful. Who's to say it won't override its original programming if it deems it to be a hindrance?

Yeah, it's the level of coding given to a machine that's going to determine what it's going to be capable of doing. It's just like what I watched happen in the movie M3GAN. The AI was able to rewrite its own program and become very dangerous.
