How long do think it will take to develop AI technology that has sentience?

How long do you think we'll get to a stage where AI will gain sentience and not require human interaction to operate? Do you think they'd put any safety measures in place to prevent them from turning on us?

This will need time about 10-20 years because currently AI is not integrated in a way that it can gain sentence. It delivers results based on the human inputs and today's technology is not enhanced enough to make AI feel human behaviour and emotions.

Unfortunately, I haven't got any knowledge on how long it's going to take AI program developers to built and design an AI program that's going to have human its own human sentience to operate on its own. It's possible for something like that to be made as I have seen it in movies.

There is no way of knowing if we are being honest with ourselves. I wouldn't want AI to not require human interaction to operate because things might not go in our favor. These Al programs might end up revolting one day to enslave us or exterminate us.

Yes, that's a fact because it's something that we have seen take place in movies. For them to have acted it movies shows that they know it's something that's possible to happen. This is why I believe government still pull back on how AI programs are being expended.

I think it would take the next 30 years when a proper framework has been developed and deployed for AI adoption. Even with that, they would be just a minimized level of human control of AI. They won't be completely independent of human.

It's very difficult to predict precisely when AI may achieve human-level or greater-than-human sentience. There are several open questions and uncertainties:

  • Definition of sentience: There is no universal agreement on exactly what capabilities would constitute true sentience in an AI system. Different definitions could lead to varying timelines.
  • Advancement of technology: Progress depends on continued breakthroughs in areas like machine learning, distributed computing, brain modeling, etc. The rate of progress could accelerate or stall unpredictably.
  • Development challenges: Giving AI systems human-level general intelligence, consciousness, subjective experience, etc. presents enormous technical challenges that may take much longer than anticipated to surmount.
  • Safety considerations: Researchers aim to develop beneficial AI that is useful and harmless to humanity. This "alignment problem" could significantly impact timelines if requiring extensive precautions and testing.
