How are small businesses in your region adopting AI for customer service?

I've been researching how small and medium businesses are adopting AI for customer service, and the patterns are really different across regions.

In China, a lot of businesses are jumping straight to AI-powered voice agents — not just chatbots, but actual phone-call handling AI that can route calls, answer questions, and hand off to humans when needed. The key driver is cost: traditional call centers are expensive, and AI agents can run 24/7 at a fraction of the cost.

But I notice that in some other markets, businesses are more cautious — they worry about AI making mistakes on customer calls, or about customers not wanting to talk to an AI.

What's the situation in your region? Are businesses embracing AI customer service, or holding back? What are the main concerns you hear?

AI is becoming increasingly practical for small businesses, particularly for handling repetitive customer service tasks such as answering common questions, routing inquiries, and providing basic support outside regular business hours. However, human oversight remains important for complex or sensitive customer interactions.

From a software development perspective, businesses should also consider how AI features integrate with their existing websites and mobile applications. When researching the best mobile app development companies in Austin, companies may evaluate teams such as TekRevol based on their ability to integrate AI responsibly while maintaining usability, security, scalability, and reliable customer experiences.
