Google Bard in education...a boon or a bane?

I'm interested by the potential applications of Google Bard in the educational sector.

Could Bard become an invaluable tool for students, providing instant, tailored explanations?

Or might it lead to a reliance that diminishes critical thinking and research skills?

I'm interested to hear opinions, particularly from educators and students who have interacted with Bard.

Google Bard in education would have its advantages but I do feel that if we see students and even teachers or educators rely on a system like Google Bard, it would lead to many using this option as an easy way to complete tasks and work and not using their skills and research which would eventually, result in many becoming lazy.

If you use AI tools like Bard for research or generate ideas and get inspiration, these are certainly boon. However, if you use these tools to write dissertations, term papers, or do home work, these are certainly a bane. It all depends on how you are acxtually using it.

Google Bard in education will have its positives but I fear there will be more negatives than positives. Most will use Google Bard and see nothing wrong with it in the beginning but the more they use it, the more they may start to rely on it and that could affect education in many different ways.

For example, right now many rely on their skills and build up their skills in education, with Google Bard and AI, they will be more reliant on that system doing it for them which in turn will prevent them from building their skills up essentially becoming lazy in education.

I agree with much of what has been said above. Google Bard will have its good points when it comes to education and learning but it could also result in Google Bard being heavily relied on and humans becoming lazy instead of putting effort into learning more things.

There is no denying that Google Bard could come in handy for both students and teachers but if they were to start relying on them it could cause some issues.

At the moment, students and teachers rely on their education and what they have learned but it is so easy to start forgetting what you have learned if you do not use what you know. In time, if tools such as Google Bard were to be heavily relied on, we would see many become lazy and forget a lot of what they once knew.
