Can AI achieve true creativity?

We've seen AI generate art, music, and literature, but is it truly creative? Most of the generated stuff is taken from other works publicly on the web.

Can AI ever originate ideas in the same way humans do, or is it forever limited to remixing and reinterpreting human input?

This is the biggest challenge with making use of AI technology in any kind of work. The copy work without any difference or uniqueness makes it look like a complete joke. Personally, I don't like how AI generated looks and how it sounds like too robotic. If this can be upgraded, the use of AI in most work will be more appreciated.

It is true what you say that AI so far has not been able to generate anything unique and has instead been taking things that others have already created and making them into something else.

To answer your question as to whether we would see true creativity from AI, it is possible but how long it will be before we see it is anyone's guess.

This is why so many AI companies have been sued over copyright infringements. As long as they don't work on making AI generated contents to be creative and unique, it's going to keep causing problem.

AI can be very creative, for instance, you can ask AI to write a poem and use certain themes, meter, rhymes, etc. and it will give you a very creative poem. However, AI can never be original because it can only synthesize existing data. There is a difference between creativity and originality.

AI's creative abilities are fascinating but often involve remixing existing content. While it excels at combining and reinterpreting data, the jury's still out on whether it can truly originate ideas like humans. It's like AI is the ultimate DJ, spinning a mix of human inspiration.

Imagine I'm an AI artist sifting through a virtual art gallery. I pick up fragments of various paintings, blend them in a digital palette, and create a new masterpiece. It's like I'm collaging ideas from the art world, but can I truly paint an original stroke?

This is why some people whom have seen their works being lifted by AI company's softwares sue them for copyright infringement. There is no originality in any work done by AI. This is the highest pitfall in using AI.

The content created by AI is just a synopsis of what it finds online. If something does not exist online, AI cannot tell anything about it. It can creatively generate content, if you tell it to create a masterpiece like Monalisa, it will surely create something magnificent like Monalisa but it will be just a copy of something that already exists. There is no originality.

I get what you're saying. AI does rely on existing data for its creations. It's like remixing existing information rather than coming up with something entirely new. But hey, isn't creativity often about connecting the dots in unique ways?

My own is that after watching movies like M3GAN and Mission Impossible : Dead Reckoning where AI was used aggressively, the world should be very careful with what they code these programs to do. The day they become self taught on their own to have their own mind, it's going to be the end of human civilization.

Yes, creativity is also about connecting dots in unique ways. That's why people can be creative even when they copy it. However, when it comes to uniqueness, we tend to side with the fact that there is no other copy that exist, it is a single piece.

AI in its current form will never be able to match the creativity of humans, as creativity goes way beyond typical logic and reasoning. It is an inherent gift of the mortals, and we're not just talking about humans either. Casually observe nature, and you'll see plenty of it.

I also agreed with the fact that AI is ideally suited for altering and reinterpreting human input. While AI systems are capable of generating creative outputs, they are unable to fully capture the true uniqueness and invention that are part of human creativity. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a machine that makes sense of the world by looking for patterns and information in the data that it has been taught. It does not have the human ability to think or create ideas.

Philosophers, scientists, and artists have been debating the complicated issue of whether artificial intelligence is capable of achieving authentic creativity for a long time. The discussion is likely to go on for some time since there is no simple solution.

On the one hand, artificial intelligence (AI) has advanced significantly in fields like computer vision, natural language processing, and machine learning in recent years. These developments have made it possible for AI to produce artistic outputs like poetry, paintings, and music. This is seen by some as proof that AI is genuinely creative.

I believe that this is what AI companies are work on programing their AI softwares to do. Is the technology going to be capable of doing that? I think it can be programmed to be very creative.

I'm aware of that, but the fact remains that AI in its current form isn't anywhere near good enough to match a human's creativity. The current versions of AI technology are what I'd call enhancers - they can enhance a human's output, but isn't capable of coming up with any unique ideas or concepts. Will we ever get to a day where that'll be possible? I'm not so sure. Until AI can start thinking for itself, its always going to lose to a human.

Yes, no one is going to argue the fact about the limitations of AI softwares at the moment because it's very clear about what they can do, how they can do it and what they can't do. The world is still in the early stages of maximising the use of AI in all its capacity. The day that's going to maxed, there will be no bounds to what AI can do.

Right now, I don't think AI can achieve true creativity. From what I have seen, AI has been taking content and making it into its own, which isn't unique.
Until there is a programme with AI that will come up with its own ideas, I don't think it will achieve true creativity.
