I recently tried Vellum. Its is a Mac OS product but works pretty well. Ive found it keeps things much better organized than most AI assistants. Im having issues with TTS however.

Im trying to learn how to build my own Agentic system. I want a very capable non cloud AI Assistant.

Claude has probably made the biggest difference for me, especially for software planning and code review.

I try not to start by asking it to write an entire feature. I first give it the task and relevant project context, then ask it to produce an implementation plan or ADR. After I review the assumptions and edge cases, I let it generate the first version of the code and tests.

I also use skills from marketplace, search github or marketplace for relevant tools with high number of starts - increases productivity by 30%

The biggest productivity improvement is not faster typing. It is spending less time switching between requirements, architecture, implementation and testing. Human review is still necessary, especially when the original task contains missing or contradictory information. It is called HITL (human in the loop)

For me, AI tools have been most useful for reducing repetitive work and helping with research and brainstorming. They can save a lot of time when organizing information, summarizing ideas, or getting a starting point for a task.

I think the biggest productivity benefit comes from using AI as an assistant rather than relying on it to do everything automatically.

For me, the biggest productivity improvement hasn't really come from discovering one new AI tool. It's been learning how to use a smaller number of tools for specific jobs.


I use ChatGPT quite a bit for research, planning, working through problems, and organizing projects. I've also used Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, but one thing I've learned is that having access to more AI tools doesn't automatically make me more productive.


I was spending too much time comparing tools and moving between them. Productivity improved when I started asking, "What does this tool actually do better than the one I'm already using?"


If I can't answer that, I probably don't need another subscription.


That has probably saved me as much time as any individual AI feature.

For me, it’s OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra. I read about it in a blog, gave it a try, and honestly ended up using it more and more. It’s still something I use pretty much every day for my workflow for research, writing, and other office tasks. Its expensive but really good.
